Hi Steve,

Glad to know that you have found the article useful to you.
Wow, you saved 17 domain registrations! :)

Let's connect on social media.

P.S. noticed how I used subdomains redirect to make my social media profile url easy to remember? that's another way to use subdomains.

A final thought Willy.....and one that i was not aware of in totality. I will now be able to save myself 17 purchases of domain name registrations for sites that need to be rebuildt since being de-indexed by google. These sites were not black hat involved,...... so till this day i do not know why my adsense sites were delisted. Other than that they were adsense sites making money.
Now I am able to save this registration money by acting as a hosting reseller even though i'm not.
Here's how,.....by creating subdomains under an Addon domain that is non-descriptive.
Such as http://www.helping-us-with.com as the addon domain and then adding a subdomain to it like boats.
Thus, my subdomain has the key word for the SERP's in the url entitled http://www.boats.helping-us-with.com.
No where else have i read this type of information. But I did have confirmation while speaking with a member of my host's staff.
So, thank you again for providing this information!

Willy, just an update. I have since restructured my entire root directory to Addon domains. I had more than a few sites and it has been a major undertaking. I also was misinformed during the process by my web hosts personnel. Which leads me to believe that they lacked experience in this matter. One word of caution and it's a big one......all scripts that use your subdomain will have to be given new path names to your Addon domain name. Meaning going from subdomain to subdomain.com!!! So you may have monetary costs associated with this restructuring. Make sure to have your host tar up your site in the event something goes wrong. I did and had my host reopen the backup to find a file that was missing. If one has long term plans on the net than i do recommend the undertaking for the reasons you stated above!!!
Willy, thanks for the insight. I thought i understood the difference between an AddOn vs. Subdomain but i was dead wrong. I've been doing my setups the wrong way! I've been doing Subdomains when they should have been AddOn's. I asked HostGator a long time ago about this exact ? and was ill informed. I will print out your article to always remind me of the right way to stucture my e-business. -Steve Stelzner

Hey Willie,

Like your article. I personally like to use sub-domains for my main site domains. but sub-directories can be easier to remember-at least for me.
